Hands on-pretend baking

We made up a 'Baking' sensory play box and the children chose which food ingredients to add. We bought: dried pasta tubes ( I think we'll get some Canelloni tubes as well as these will be good fit smaller objects inside) dried rice, red lentils for some colour and some dried beans.

Our equipment included: whisks, various sized spoons, various sized pots and containers (some with lids), a measuring jug, chop sticks, ice cube trays, funnels, sieves, a collander, wooden spoons plus more!

We set our sensory play items on a couple of low level tables outdoors and let the 'baking' commence!

Let's see what we can get into an ice cube tray!

Scooping with a wooden spoon isn't as easy as it looks....

You can get so much more on a serving spoon!

Let's try not to spill any!

Transferring from a big container to a smaller one....

....and then to an even smaller one.

This activity kept the children occupied for ages and was a huge success.

We will definately be doing this again!
