Another one of the children's favourite stories is The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson.
Our Gruffalo display.
This is another one of our frequently read books so I though we would have some fun with it and make it our theme for the following week.
There are no end of ideas for this and the more I planned into our weekly routine the more I thought of! The children were given the choice of which activities they did on this theme and these are the ones they chose.
We bought a set of 4 Gruffalo jigsaws from Amazon.
We bought a set of 4 Gruffalo jigsaws from Amazon.
We bought Gruffalo snap cards from eBay and the children really got into playing the game-their competitive spirit came out!
I drew and painted the characters to make a window display for our playroom.
The children made Gruffalo faces for our window display.
We bought large chocolate muffins....
(this was my favourite activity!)
...and turned them into Gruffalo's.
They were delicious!
They coloured in pictures of The Gruffalo
We also turned large chocolate chip cookies into Gruffalo's
(not on the same day as we made the cakes though!)
The children thoroughly enjoyed doing these activities and each day we took time to read the story.
It's lovely to hear the 2 year olds reciting the story from memory as they look at the pictures.
